Katy Hickman's play, Bright Boy: The Passion of Robert McNamara premiered in April 2006 to enthusiastic reviews at the Electric Lodge in an Ensemble Studio Theatre Los Angeles production. Meteor Girl (Dramalogue Awards for performance and writing, Bay Area Critics Circle Award) was developed with support from the Zspace Studio for San Francisco's Solo Mio Festival and went on to successful productions at the Encore Theatre and Magic Theatre in San Francisco, and at Theater Theatre and HBO Workspace in Los Angeles. Her short play, Nomenclature was part of the Road Theatre's evening, Cuts in 2007. Chillin’, was featured as part of 24th Street Theatre’s 2005 season of Intrigue, Lies, Secrets and Spies. Other works include Layered Bob, at the Met Theatre, Open Enrollment, produced in San Francisco as part of the Abydos Director’s Festival; Lucky and What I Did for Art, for the Virginia Avenue Project.
As an actor, Ms. Hickman starred as the villain in the Hong Kong action film, Angel III and Bettina Barnes in Psycho Beach Party .
